Aims

  • Provide students with the knowledge and skills that will enhance tertiary selection in clothing and related courses.
  • Enable students to gain a recognised credential and make a more informed choice of vocational and career paths.

Year 1 

  • Work safely 
  • Apply quality standards 
  • Draw and interpret a basic sketch 
  • Produce a simple textile fabric or product
  • Use a sewing machine for fashion design
  • Provide hand sewing and finishing support
  • Lay up uncomplicated fabrics and lays
  • Produce a simple garment

Year 2 

  • Identify design process for fashion designs
  • Work in a team 
  • Design and produce a simple garment
  • Prepare design concept for a simple garment

This program is not a scored study. Students who successfully complete the Unit 3 & 4 sequence will receive one ATAR increment, which is calculated as 10 per cent of the fourth-ranked study score from the student's 'top four' Unit 3 & 4 studies.
