Year 7 Update

As we reflect on the past term, it's been wonderful to see our Year 7 students fully embracing and leaping into new experiences and opportunities for growth.

One highlight has been a peer support that was run in conjunction with a session on mental health and coping strategies. Led by our dedicated counsellor, Charlotte Edmonds, this session allowed students to learn new ways of self-care and work with their peer support mentors to discuss what they find to be the best self-care strategies.

Additionally, our students have been enthusiastic participants in our House Performing Arts (HPA) mass singing event. Working in their houses, our Year 7s got to experience their first HPA practice of the year and work together to sing their hearts out.

Furthermore, some of our students took the stage in the school play, Clue: On Stage. This experience not only allowed them to explore their theatrical abilities but also fostered teamwork and confidence. Two of our students have graciously shared their reflections on their time in the play:

Being chosen to be in the senior school play "Clue" as a Year 7 was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. I remember the first rehearsal, when I walked into the hall with the only other Year 7 by my side. We both thought that we would never fit in. But after a few rehearsals, despite being the youngest ones, we both felt encouraged and connected with the cast and crew.
Both of us made friends with others from older years, and eventually, more familiar faces joined after seeing how much fun we were having. We would like to thank Ms. Juers for casting us in Clue; she has welcomed us into senior school with open arms, and we are truly grateful.
Although closing night came sooner than expected, we really hope that Shelford’s last senior school play perfectly ended with a BANG!
