Chaplaincy News

As we gather each week in Chapel across the road at Oaktree Anglican Church, it's evident that these moments transcend mere routine—they're opportunities for reflection, inspiration, community building, and identity exploration. Here’s a snapshot of what has been happening in Chapel over the last couple of weeks:

Junior School

Our Junior School Chapel sessions are nothing short of joyful occasions! Students eagerly make their way to the church, where they get to enjoy a variety of engaging activities including a live musical performance from students, a short talk and video, an interactive object lesson, and then a whole school song (which is often the highlight of our time together - even the teachers enthusiastically get involved!)

This Chapel time is a precious space for the junior school to have some quite time at the end of a busy week and reflect on the core character traits and values of our school. Last term we focused on kindness, exploring the biblical themes of forgiveness and mercy. And this term we are looking at ‘God’s Big Story’ and the overarching adventure story told through the biblical narrative. What a joy it is to take some time in our week to meet as the whole junior school and grow in our connection with one another, deepen our understanding of our school’s values, and learn how to live them out in a meaningful way.

Parents, we extend a warm invitation for you to join us in these precious moments of reflection and connection.

Senior School

In our recent Year 12 Chapel, I had the honour of thinking about the future for our students beyond just ATAR scores and potential professions and created a space for them to think about the ‘imprints’ that they leave on the world.

As our Year 12 students stand on the threshold of new beginnings, it's imperative that we encourage them to contemplate the legacy they wish to impart. Beyond academic achievements and career pursuits, it's the indelible marks they leave on the lives of others that truly define their impact. In our discussion, we explored the intangible qualities of character that last long after an assessment result is given, or a numerical value is placed on a task.

These qualities, when intentionally defined and faithfully lived out, have the power to influence our choices, shape our professional and relational trajectories, and bring meaning to the life we live. As Chaplain, it's my privilege to facilitate these reflective moments and guide our students towards a deeper understanding of their purpose.
