Principal's News

Pauline Cutajar

This year has been unofficially marked as a year of celebration.  Given what our School community is dealing with, this may on the surface seem like an odd choice. However, as I have communicated several times to both staff and students, I firmly believe that whatever life presents it’s incredibly important to find the positives and the opportunities that come with it. At the Senior School Assembly this week, I spoke to the students about the importance of taking time in life to recognise and be grateful for the special people in our lives. It is after all too easy, no matter the stage of life we are in, to get caught up in busy schedules, task lists and looming deadlines. We must make time to stop, reflect and enjoy these special people and the ways they enrich our lives. Two special members of staff were acknowledged at this week’s Assembly.

Andrew Jones, our IT Manager is leaving Shelford this week after more than 20 years of outstanding service. Andrew is an integral and valued member of our community and will certainly be missed not just for his considerable technical expertise, but also for his incredibly calm, kind, and patient demeanour, which has been appreciated by staff and students alike. We thank Andrew for his commitment to our school and wish him all the best as he moves to a wonderful role at a new school.

For thirty years, Peter Smith has also been an integral part of our community, shaping the lives of countless students with his dedication, passion, and commitment. Of course, his impact goes beyond the work that he does in the IRC. Mr. Smith embodies the essence of what it means to be a wonderful human, someone whose very presence enriches the lives of those around them. His kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for the well-being of others have made him such a cherished member of the Shelford community. We are delighted that Peter will be at Shelford for the remainder of the year, every school community should be so lucky as to have a Peter Smith on staff!

We look forward to continuing to celebrate our community through the remainder of the year.
