SPORT DATES AT A GLANCE

Student Representatives

MacKillop Tennis

Good luck to Petar for the NSWPSSA Tennis tournament as a member of the MacKillop Team. This event will be held in Newcastle during May.

Cross Country

The Sydney Cross Country Championships are on 14th May at Sydney Motor Sports Park. We have 31 students who will represent our school at this trial. 

Just a friendly reminder that parents are required to transport their children to and from the event. Miss Devlin will meet our runners at the track. Mrs Col will meet with all attending students on Monday to discuss the event and to hand out representative singlets/jerseys to run in. Please wash and return these jerseys at your earliest convenience.

Sydney Rugby Union

Good luck to Jye L who will participate in the upcoming Rugby Union Trial in Coogee.

Conference Athletics

Our school hosted our Athletics Carnival quite early on in the year and details are still yet to emerge for the conference 3 Athletics trial held on August 12th. As details for this event are finalised, Mrs Col will hand out notes and share all further information via COMPASS to students who qualified for this event.

K-1 St Patrick's Games - Athletics Carnival

Just a reminder that the St Patrick’s Games are on Monday the 13th of May.

• The St Patrick’s Games will begin at 9.00am.
• The expected finish time is 11.15 am. K-1 Parents and Carers are welcome to stay and have Lunch 1 with their child/children on the QUAD playground. 
• Students are to wear their sports uniform and this can be adapted with shirts, hair ribbons, hats and other items/accessories which correlate to their house colour.
• Please ensure your child has warm clothing (if weather requires), a hat and has applied sunscreen and all belongings are clearly labelled. 
• Students require crunch and sip and plenty of water during the games. 

We look forward to a fun-filled morning with our K-1 Parents and Carers!

SUTHERLAND SHARKS BASKETBALL GALA DAY

The Registration Form for this optional gala day will close this Friday 10th May. If you would like your child to attend this event please ensure you have registered via the form before this date.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Year 5 and 6 Football Gala Days

Year 5 have commenced Interschool sport for Term 2. It was a very successful day out at Seymour Shaw with most teams playing 3 games throughout the half day gala event. Year 6 unfortunately had a wash out for their first round but will participate in round 2 of this gala event on Wednesday May 15th. Year 5 will also continue round 2 on Wednesday May 29th. Students will leave school at the start of lunch and return to school for 2:30pm. 

Our level 1 Football Teams were able to proceed with their games at Seymour Shaw Stadium. 

The same gear and structure will apply for Round 2 of this Football Gala event. Students will need to bring/wear:

• Level 1 - schools representative jersey
• Level 2 - School sports uniform 
• Shin Pads and Soccer socks (preferably blue, yellow, black or combination of these colours)
• Level 1 - soccer boots must be worn
• Level 2 - Runners only, no soccer boots allowed for level 2 teams.
• Jacket to keep students warm between games
• School hat (won't need to be worn during games) -
• Healthy snacks and lunch with plenty of water. There are no canteen facilities at this venue.
• Sunscreen

Year 4 Football Gala Day

On Wednesday 12th June, Year 4 will have their turn at the Interschool Football Gala Day. Year 4 families will shortly receive details and will seek consent for all students to participate in this fun event hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Below are the overall results from the timed and measured events. Our 1st place winners, if meeting the qualifying measured/timed, will progress to the Conference Carnival and in some track events, our top 2 progress. Students who have progressed to the Conference Trial on Monday 12th August 2024 will receive notes next week.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current year 4, year 5 and year 6 students. Miss Devlin will complete an online course to implement a 6 week program through the PE Syllabus. NFL will also be sending us brand new footballs and 30 flag belts to kickstart this new sport at our school. After the 6 week program our school will look into entering the NSW State Tournament in which the winning team receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

We look forward to sharing and promoting this new sport right here at St Pat’s.

Dance Eisteddfod News

We had some talented dancers participate in the Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod over the school holidays. Congratulations to Maxie G who placed 2nd out of 13 students in her contemporary solo.
