Street Food Fiesta

This week, the Year 9/10 'Street Food Fiesta' class got to create their Burger Design task.

During the last couple weeks, we had been working on designing a burger, investigating different types of burgers, generating different ideas, planning and managing our burgers and finally producing them.

We spent Period 2 on Tue 23 April following our production plan and creating the burgers we had spent so long designing. After creating our burgers we sat down and tried the end result, and they were all fantastic! After trying our burgers we evaluated them using a 'sensory analysis'. This was a very fun task that the whole class enjoyed!

VCE Media @Top Screens Excursion

Last term, the Year 11 and 12 media students were lucky enough to view the VCE top screens for Media. This screening showcased a variety of different media products, such as short films, music videos, animations and stop motion, all of which were considered to be the best in the state for 2023. This viewing gave us the opportunity to see the standard of films that were created and additionally inspire us for our creations while completing VCE media, and also outside of class!

After the screening, we were lucky enough to get to listen to a panel of student directors for the videos. We got to hear about their processes, and where they found their motivation and ideas to create their incredible productions. Getting to hear from students who themselves have experienced VCE media made it so much more real and exciting, and helped us all to gather insider knowledge on where to go in our future productions.

After the screening we’re invited to see the ACMI exhibition 'The story of the moving image'. This was an incredible compilation of major moments in moving image history, and featured things like costumes from the set of The Dressmaker, and special effects in Blade Runner. There was also interesting interactive experiences, that allowed you to use everyday objects to create sound effects in a short video, which was very inspiring and funny!

Overall this day was very insightful and gave all VCE Media students an example of how to complete our final production, to the best of our ability!

A big thank you to our VCE Media teacher Mr Pollock for organising the excursion and Ms. Piritidis for joining us on the day.
