Principal Report
Welcome back to school for Term 2. It has been another great start to the term, with our students being focussed and engaged in their learning. This term is off to a busy start with Active April taking place before school and on the second Monday of this term our grade 3 to 6 students participated in the annual House Cross Country event. Continuing on with our proud tradition we held our ANZAC Day Ceremony on Wednesday 24th April. Congratulations & thank you to Ms Fiona Jamieson for organising & leading the ceremony.
The respectful and moving ceremony was attended by the OPS Choir, whole school body, staff, members of the parent community & our special guests from various organisations.
Students were respectful & attentive during the special ceremony and laying of flowers at the flagpole.
Not long ago someone asked me, ‘What do you like about Oatlands?’, and without hesitation I said that it is the culture of Oatlands PS. By culture I mean the behaviours displaying respect and kindness. Little things make a difference and some of little things that do that make a difference include:
- Greeting others with ‘Good Morning’ or ‘Good afternoon’;
- Smiling at others when we see them;
- Listening to others when they are talking to us;
- Helping others where we can;
- Showing patience to people around us;
- Caring for others;
- And taking an interest in other people.
When you walk into any type of work environment you can tell fairly quickly what the culture is like. Doing the little things makes a huge difference, this week I challenge you to do the little things that make a difference.
