Year 12 v 11 Football Match

The year Twelve versus Eleven football match was played last Thursday in blustery conditions on the Belmont oval. In front of a good crowd of students and teachers, the Twelves kicked with the wind in the first quarter but couldn’t capitalize and the defense of the Elevens proving strong. Sam Taylor made a rare appearance out of the 50m arc for a bone crunching hit on Ethan Hearne that brought the crowd and the Twelves alight. The second quarter, the Elevens kicked a few early goals to put some early scoreboard pressure on, with their midfield getting on top. Tom Kiddle was everywhere and Ethan Holland searched for any contest to crash through. Ethan Skene continued to nullify year Twelve star Tom Peirce, whilst Henry Meaney took some strong marks off half back and even sold some candy in front of the crowd, trying to lift the senior team. The efforts of Mason Jolly, Josh Hasell and Tom Boyd in the midfield weren’t enough, as the Elevens played a smart style of football into the wind, to run out victors 33 – 25. The game was played in terrific spirit and at such a good standard, that many didn’t notice the rambling commentary of Mr Dowling and Mr Thompson on the microphone. Next years, year Twelves will be very hard to beat in 2024!
