It's that time of year when we need to be thinking about next year and ensuring we are working towards completing at least 2 weekend duty rosters during Year 11 and 12 which is the requirement for the core unit of competency AHCWRK204 - “Work Effectively in the Industry”, which is required to complete Certificate II in Agriculture. The 2023 roster for Term 4 is very full, so please check your spots. Therefore, this week and week 1 Term 4, we are giving the students the opportunity to fill the 2024 roster for weekends that will suit. I understand that there are dates that students can't work on weekends due to other commitments like sports, birthdays, and other events so we encourage the students to get in fast this Term and select the dates they choose, or they will be allocated into weekends.
Just a reminder that swapping weekend roster is strongly discouraged but in the event this situation arises, students must give a valid reason, two weeks’ notice to myself, Mrs Corsini, and find another student to replace you. Students and parents have access to the roster through daily notices, Farm noticeboard, via email and parents can also access the information in the fortnightly College Chatter.
Year 11 will undergo First Aid training and firefighting training next term, which are used towards their Certificate II in Agriculture. An email has been sent with the form for First Aid, can all Year 11 students please complete the form as soon as possible and email back to madison.davey@education.wa.edu.au, that would be great.
We are looking forward to having the Year 11s down on Farm Term 4, where they should get the opportunity to be rostered back onto enterprises and now should be asking to be assessed in achieving some competencies. Term 4 will go quickly so I recommend all the Year 11 students to take every opportunity they have on Farm to complete what is required of them and have fun while doing it.
We would like to congratulate all the Year 12s that have finished their Certificate II in Agriculture and have been signed off, we wish you the best of luck with future endeavours. For the Year 12s that are coming back to finish their last competencies and paperwork, we will see you next term Week 1.
We will have the last loader/skid steer course running Term 4 Week 1
9 October to 13 October 2023 -
Our Certificate III in Agriculture students will be required to return in Term 4 Week 1, Monday, where the following will be completed, and they can be signed off.
Good luck to Wayne Laird, Marika Martini, Gary West and the below 16 students competing in the Royal Show Farm Skills.
