The end of an era is approaching for our Year 12s with many finishing off their course requirements this term and preparing to take their next step into further training or employment. It has been rewarding to chat with the Year 12s about their plans for both the remainder of this year and next year and hear about what already they have lined up and the options they have to choose from. It continues to be evident that our graduates are highly sought after by employers, and that they are very well placed to pick up an opportunity that suits their skills and interests.
Our Year 12 ATAR students sat their last end of year exam on Tuesday and will now spend the next 6 weeks preparing for their WACE Exams. Their application and dedication to their studies has been admirable, and I wish them all the very best.
To our Year 12s, thank you for a fantastic 2 years as it has been a delight to get to know you, watch you grow, and depart us prepared and ready to tackle your next big adventure. I look forward to hearing about all of your continued success in years to come.
Unfortunately, due to my sister getting married overseas in November, I will be on leave and out of the country during this year's Valedictory Ceremony. I am very disappointed that I will not be in attendance to join in on this celebration, but I look forward to still being a part of this event in some way and still celebrating the success of all our Year 12s from a distance.
This year's Open Day was a huge success. The feedback we have received was overwhelmingly positive and there were many specific references to the improved layout of the event, the presence of industry exhibiting on the day, the interactive area displays, the energy of the school groups, and in particular, the way our students presented themselves and engaged with visitors on the day. Well done to all involved!
Our 2024 Student Council were announced at our recent Open Day. Congratulations to Isaac Childs, Dylan Garlett, Davina Guest, Kayla De Villiers, Jake Bestry, Elsie Cardew, Lincoln Cannon and Jadd Hill.
It has come to my attention that there have been some concerns raised in regard to the College's use of CCTV to 'monitor' students.
I would like to clarify with both students and families that there are strict policies and protocols surrounding the use of CCTV footage, and that the system is only accessed in the event of an incident or if concerns have been raised whereby the footage may assist with follow up. CCTV is not utilised to 'monitor' students or public spaces.
It is with great pleasure that I announce that we were recently recognised as the '2023 WA Small Training Provider of the Year' at the annual WA Training Awards. Well done to all of our staff and students for being recognised for excellence in the Vocational Education and Training space.
Wishing our College community all the very best for the upcoming holiday break.
