STEM MAD Showcase

On Thursday October 12 a group of four Year 10 students – Amelia Grbac, Evie Morris, Alice Portz and Olivia Leahy presented their STEM project – Road Rollers, at the STEM MAD showcase at the Catholic Leadership Centre.

Road Rollers is a device that can be placed on a busy road in order to convert the kinetic energy of passing cars into electrical energy that can be used to power street lights and traffic lights.  As the electricity is not generated from the burning of fossil fuels, less harm is done to the environment.  The hard work that our team put into this project was rewarded by the judges who gave Road Rollers the “Most Sustainable Award”.

“STEM MAD 2023 was a really enjoyable experience, it was rewarding getting to present our work to judges and other visitors. One highlight of our day was getting to also see the ideas of other students, and getting to hear the process towards their final product. The atmosphere of a room full of people all interested in STEM was a very unique experience, and there  were many fun activities available at the day”.
