Book of the month
Book of the Month
We are all well rested after our break and have returned to the library to begin our end of year processes. As always this involves the end of year stocktake so we would appreciate any overdue items being returned or cleared from students’ records as soon as possible. This will allow them to access the complete library collection and other students to borrow items that have been absent from the collection.
We are continuing our work on the ‘genrefying’ process. As mentioned last month the library collection will take on a new look in 2024 with the fiction collection displayed according to genre rather than author. We are looking forward to having the work finished and the collection displayed in this new format.
During this month we celebrate our Class of 2023 with a photographic display on our front desk, we have grown accustomed to their faces and will miss seeing them when they leave us next month.
Our chosen title this month fits with our photographic display and adds to our non-fiction collection upgrade. Terry O’Neill’s photographic portrait of Elton John.
Elton John and iconic photographer Terry O'Neill worked together for many years, taking more than 5,000 photographs. From intimate backstage shots to huge stadium concerts, the photographs in this book represent the very best of this archive, with most of the images being shown here for the first time. O'Neill has drawn on his personal relationship with Elton John to write the book's introduction and captions.
"Looking at Terry's photographs is like gazing through a window at the most extraordinary and exciting moments of my life. I'm so glad he was with us throughout the madness: in his evocative and stylish photos he captured those moments as no other photographer could." - Elton John.
