Sports Update
Polding Athletics
Last Friday, 13th October, Aila McBain, Ella Bruce, Paige Floyd and Fletcher Barratt made the epic journey from Brisbane to Sydney to compete at Polding Athletics held at Sydney Olympic Park. After a huge couple of days at the Stage 3 excursion, these students found enough energy to perform at an elite level in their preferred events.
The 800m was the first event of the day. Aila just missed out on a medal coming 4th, Paige was next, coming 11th and Fletcher managed to get on the podium in 2nd. Fletcher then had to race across and finish his High Jump where he was placed 12th. Next, Paige competed in the 100m race. She ran so well, she managed to make it in the final where she placed 6th! Paige then had to compete in the 200m. Again, she made the final and placed 4th - just missing out on a medal. Ella and Fletcher both competed in Discus. Ella had some strong throws and came in 8th for the 12/13 year old girls and Fletcher surprised all the boys in his field coming in 4th. Finally, Aila and Fletcher ran in the 1500m. Aila had a great start and came in 7th overall. Fletcher had a big battle on his hands and managed to gain 1st place.
Fletcher will now compete at NSWPSSA Athletics at Sydney Olympic Park again on Wednesday the 25th in the 800m and 1500m. Good luck Fletcher!
As a mother and staff member at this event, I was immensely proud of these students in the way they conducted themselves at this event and managed to give it their all despite being fatigued from the adventures on the excursion. Congratulations Aila, Paige, Ella and Fletcher. We are all very proud of you.
Touch Football Gala Day
On Friday the 3rd November, many Stage 2 and 3 students will be travelling to Inverell for the Diocesan Touch Football Gala Day. Information has been provided through Compass for this event. We wish these students all the best and hope they enjoy their day.,
Water Awareness
Monday the 6th November to Thursday the 9th November our school will be participating in Water Awareness session with qualified coaches. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain confidence around water. We encourage all families to ensure their children participate in this activity as swimming and being safe around water is a life skill we should all have.
A note will be sent home via Compass next week with session times and further information.
