Term 4, Week 1

A very big ‘welcome back’ to Term 4. I hope the holidays were kind to you and that you have come back feeling refreshed and ready to take on what is going to be a long term- definitely a marathon, and not a sprint! Keep this in mind when scheduling in restful weekends, hopefully filled with self-care and relaxation, so that you can end the year feeling fulfilled, happy, and healthy.

We have a fun term ahead:

- All of the MSS will be heading to Inflatable World on Friday 20th October. Please ensure DISPLAN’s are up to date so that you can attend.

- SSG’s take place in Weeks 8-10.

- We have the Colour Run on Monday 18th December which will take place on site at JSA.

- PLC’s will run on Monday afternoon only. All teachers are to attend.

- Professional Learning (PL) will occur on Thursday afternoons, with a specific focus. Both ES and teachers are encouraged to attend.

Combined Classes Lists

A reminder to update the student split lists that may come into play in your absence.

Seesaw

Please ensure that you are uploading pictures each week to all students. This is an important platform used to communicate with families and to share what their children are doing at school.

Yard Duty

Please ensure that you are out to yard duty on time and wearing your vest. Everyone should be wearing a vest- even staff assigned to 1:1 students. If you have students who take longer to transition, please support the student so that you are able to get out to the yard on time. If you are running late please arrange someone to cover you until you get outside.

Canine Comprehension

Another week of Canine Comprehension in Primary, Middle and Secondary. A reminder that this takes place on Wednesday this term for the students involved. I can’t wait to see this in action!

Excursions

Teachers- when excursions are planned, remember you MUST log the excursion on SharePoint and on the School Locator. Also, it is your responsibility to consider your Yard Duty before the excursion day. If you cannot arrange a swap, then you talk to me about it prior to the day.

Consider what it is you will need to hand over to your students 2024 classroom teams- what do you need to communicate in writing via student profiles, what are the long term goals and what are the goals you would like to see achieved in the term ahead. For some, this will be the last 12 weeks with your current students, so let’s make it count!

As always, please ensure you communicate your concerns, questions, thoughts, and of course solutions. If processes or practices are not working, and changes can be made, I want to ensure you have the capacity, and space to share these and be proactive in making change. Thanks for all of your support so far this year to ensure a cohesive, collaborative and effective team. I appreciate the work that each of you do everyday and know that in times of need we can rely on each other to step in or up.
