In The Artroom
This week gr 5/6 students continued their A2 picture of an “Alice In Wonderland” themed picture for the UV room at the Arts Festival night. They used fluorescent paints, watercolours and pastels.
Grade Preps and gr 1/2C continued their skills development with painting and sculptures with playdough and watercolour paints.
Gr 3/4s, 1/2A, 1/2B,1/2D and 5/6C didn’t have art this week due to our sports days.
Art club is on a Tuesday lunchtime and certain grades will be allocated their own timeslot. Next week will be gr 1/2.
This year there is a sculpture section in the student gallery. If your child is interested in entering this, please refer to the Cavendish Red Gum Festival facebook page for details. This will not be covered during art lessons this term.
However, Ms Brown will be covering the Redgum Festival topic during lessons so all students have the opportunity to enter a 2D piece into the student exhibition.

MUSIC NEWS
Hello everyone,
This week in Music we’ve all been working on the Australian National Anthem. We definitely sounded better today – let’s keep working on it!
This week the Preps also learned more about high and low sounds, and the 5/6s played ukuleles, plus the Blues on keyboards and xylophones.
The other grades will have to wait until next week to get back into the Music room, due to our Sports Days 😊
MUSIC AWARDS
This week’s class Music Award goes to 5/6B for their enthusiasm and great Blues music.
The individual awards go to Dustie Kawau for her insight into the National Anthem, and to Archie McCulloch for his fantastic three mallet playing of the xylophone.
Thank you

STEM
Due to the Athletics sports this week, only some classes got STEM.
For the classes that did STEM, they had a challenge week, where there were two activities for them to complete.
Activity one was an iPad activity, where they used the iPads to animate their drawings.
Activity two was a co-operative exercise, where students had to work in small groups to complete a 10-cup pyramid with only string and a rubber band. Their hands were not allowed to touch the cup! A great activity to practise resilience, one of our school values at Gray St!
I would also like to publicly thank Kelly Wade for sharing with me some resources she created on the Green Turtle. These are fabulous fact sheets on the Green Turtle which are up on display in the STEM classroom.
