This week in Reading, students will begin to explore different types of poetry beginning with a Diamante.


VOCABULARY

Poem: A piece of writing that uses imaginative words to share ideas, emotions or a story with the reader.

 

Poetry: A type of literature (writing) that attempts to stir a reader’s imagination or emotion.  

 

Diamante: A Diamante is an unrhymed seven-line poem. Its beginning and ending lines are the shortest, giving it the shape of a diamond.
