TERM 1 WEEK 10

Week 10 Update

It has been a wonderful start to 2024 and the end of Term 1 is quickly approaching. The weather seems to have changed very quickly. We would like to remind students about wearing school uniforms. If you need any uniforms the Shop is open on Monday morning and Wednesday after school.

At LNPS, we're committed to setting our students up for success. That's why we launched the "Aiming High Expectations" approach this year, which focuses on establishing clear behaviour expectations and fostering our school values.

This approach goes beyond simply telling students what to do. We explicitly teach the meaning and importance of these values at an age-appropriate level, and provide opportunities for students to practice them in everyday situations.

By making good behaviour a habit (practice makes permanent), we reduce the mental effort required for positive choices and empower students to become independent learners.

While positive habits take time to develop and we may not see the full impact at LNPS, this approach equips students with the skills they need to become lifelong learners and responsible individuals.

Learning Conferences

Thank you to the families who have taken the time to participate in Term 1 Learning Conferences. Our success criteria for conferences were to:

  • Supporting families to know more about what their child should know and be able to do in relation to identified Learner Qualities, English and Mathematics
  • Sharing of learning at home and knowledge about their child
  • Discussion of strategies on how to support their child at home with goals

Project Classroom

Early this term we had the pleasure of hosting Belinda Jankowiak from Project Classroom. Belinda undertook a case study on our auditory environment. She was extremely impressed with our inclusive learning environments. The case study is now available.  We are extremely proud of our school and it is wonderful to be acknowledged by an expert in the learning environment area.

Next week I will be attending the annual Senior Camp at Butlers Beach. Camps at LNPS are a long-standing proud tradition and they are mentioned in nearly every Senior Graduate Speech. Many schools are moving away from camps as they do involve a lot of administration and prices are increasing due to the cost of living and risk assessment requirements.

LNPS believes that the benefits of camp are irreplaceable and we will continue to work with Camp Providers to provide a unique blend of academic enrichment, social development, and personal growth experiences that can have a positive and lasting impact. We are also always striving to keep costs down and support families in any way possible to enable students to attend.

Nik will be the Acting Principal in my absence. We wish everyone a lovely and relaxing holiday break.
