Outdoor and Environmental Studies
The Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students embarked on an unforgettable four-day journey, covering a total of 70 kilometres along the Murray River from Yarrawonga to Cobram. We are delighted to report that all members of the class enthusiastically participated in this enriching experience.
Throughout the expedition, our students camped each evening under tarps on sandy beaches, fostering bonds through shared experiences and campfire conversations beneath the starlit skies. Despite facing high temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday, our students persevered, finding solace in refreshing swims amidst the sweltering heat.
As part of their journey, students took on the role of environmental stewards, recording key characteristics of inland waterways and red gum forests. Additionally, they actively engaged in the planning and implementation of safe and sustainable interactions with outdoor environments. This involved the adoption of minimum impact strategies, including thoughtful route planning, conscientious tarp-site selection, and the responsible use of fuel stoves and fires. Through collaborative efforts, our students demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and adaptability, equipping themselves with practical skills and knowledge that will undoubtedly serve them well into the future.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Elyse and the dedicated staff at 15 Mile Creek that made this experience possible.
Interschool Sport
On Thursday the 21st March a number of students represented the school in Tennis, Volleyball and Cricket in the Intermediate age group level. Matches were played against other schools which include Yarrawonga, Rutherglen, Beechworth and Corryong.
The volleyball team only had 5 players, yet gave it their best go - showing respect, kindness and confidence. The cricket team has reported they won all their games and are through to the next round. Also commenting that everyone got along well, had a laugh and thought the other teams were nice and easy to talk to.
In tennis, all students showed perseverance and kept their spirits high. Special mentions go to Emily for serving to win a set, and Ava and Melody for winning 2 games against the strongest players of the day. We've included some action photos from some of the tennis games played. Well done to all students for doing their best.
