Principal's Report

NAPLAN

I’d like to acknowledge and thank the Year 7 and 9 students for their behaviour and attitude during our NAPLAN testing period. The testing ended on Thursday and we've only required a few catch up sessions today and on the last official day of testing on Monday. While sitting a test can make some students nervous, they all rose to the challenge of just doing their best, with many taking their time to carefully read questions and doing lots of working out and planning. Students also showed respect to their peers during the tests, remaining quiet when finished, to give everyone the best chance to concentrate on their work.

NAPLAN results are useful for our teachers to assist with the learning of individual students, and the Department places a high importance on them; however, all our school ever expects is for the students to do their best.

Thanks to all the staff who had to adapt to fit around the tests over the last 2 weeks.

End of Term 1

The last week of school (next week) ends on Thursday 28th March at 2.30pm, due to Good Friday falling the next day. This last week of school is by no means slowing down into the holidays!

  • The Student Executive are running a fundraising BBQ on Monday the 25th at lunch (sausage sizzle) to raise money for the victims of the bushfires in Chile.
  • Interschool sport for Year 7 and 8 is on Tuesday (event registration is closed).
  • School photos are on Wednesday (to order photos you can get a hard copy form from the Office, or sign up in Compass).
  • Conferences are being held on Wednesday the 27th from 4 – 7pm (bookings are still available in Compass).
  • Thursday the 28th is a casual dress day in the colours of the Chilean flag (blue, red and white). A gold coin donation will be collected in Home Group which will go towards continued fundraising for people impacted by bushfire in Chile.
  • Before the final bell for the term, we’ll be holding the House Cross Country event, and a whole school activity.

Term 1 has really flown by, but there has been a lot of learning, with students getting used to the rhythm and flow of school days. Lots of processes and strategies have also been implemented to help staff with clarity, consistency and collaboration.

Term 2 Start

Monday 15th April, 9am
