CARITAS PROJECT COMPASSION
'THANK YOU'
Project Compassion has come to an end so we take this opportunity to say thank you for the many ways you have supported this awareness-raising and fund-raising campaign.
The total fundraising amount raised from returned Caritas boxes, Pancake Tuesday and the Solidarity walk is $1772.
Well done and congratulations to all our boys and girls who participated in the various fundraising activities for Caritas. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s main annual fundraising campaign to help alleviate poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity in the most vulnerable and marginalised communities in the world. Held during Lent, Project Compassion is an extraordinary demonstration of the faith, empathy and generosity of our school.
HOLY WEEK LITURGIES
During our final week of Term 1, Holy Week and last Friday, each Learning Community shared a profound period of reflection within our faith tradition. Holy week is a time to honour the remarkable journey of Jesus Christ - his passion, death, and resurrection. It offers us the opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation
Our students are to be commended for the manner in which they dedicated themselves to preparing and presenting prayerful liturgies that symbolise the significance of this time.
In this sacred season, we deepen our commitment to compassion, love, and forgiveness through observation and acts of kindness. Whether through prayer, acts of kindness, or moments of quiet contemplation, we unite as a school community and draw nearer together during the Eastertide Season.

SANDHURST SWITCHES OFF
'St Brendan’s Switches Off'
Our students and staff supported the Sandhurst Switches Off initiative in the final week of school on the last day, switching off all electrical appliances and devices for one hour from 10am till 11am. This action was symbolic of our commitment to the preservation of God’s fragile creation. It is also symbolic of our solidarity with those who are suffering due to climate change.
In his encyclical, Laudato Si, Pope Francis says; ‘If we approach nature and the environment without this openness to awe and wonder, if we no longer speak the language of fraternity and beauty in our relationship with the world, our attitude will be that of masters, consumers, ruthless exploiters, unable to set limits on their immediate needs.’
ALTAR SERVERS Thank you

Staff Professional Learning
Catholic Education Sandhurst (CES)
Colleen Hampson - Monday, 22nd April
Our staff participated in an hour of Professional Learning after school on Monday, unpacking their first Unit for this term. Across the school, all our students will be immersed into learning about the God’s love through the works of the Holy Spirit.
Colleen provided learning prompts and tools to assist the teachers in unpacking their Major Assessment tasks and planning of rich learning experiences that would bring the Unit Outcomes to life.
Colleen’s experience of Learning and Teaching for Religious Education allowed her to prompt and guide our teachers to form their own relevant learning experiences for the students of St Brendan’s. The collegial dialogue was rich and every Unit came away with a direction for future planning. We are very grateful for the support and professional learning offered by Catholic Education Sandhurst and especially of recent from Colleen, who kept everyone engaged in ‘bite sized’ planning support using our core Religious Education resource, A Source Of Life and we look forward to spending a full day with Colleen, on the first day back of Term 3. Thank you Colleen.
