A message from our Principal

Dear St. Brendan's School Community,

Welcome back to all students and families for Term 2.  We have been very fortunate to have such lovely weather and students are enjoying their time playing in the yard with their friends.

As the weather has been warm, we extended Summer uniform until the end of this week. On Monday, 29th April, all students will wear Winter Uniform.

Boys will have long grey pants, green polo and jumper and grey socks and black shoes. Tracksuit pants will be worn over their black shorts.

Girls to wear tartan pants or tantan kilt, green socks or green tights and black shoes. There will be some items in the Second Hand Uniform shop.  Please ensure all clothing is marked.

St. Brendan's Parish Expo

On Sunday, 5th May St. Brendan's Parish will celebrate an early St. Brendan's Feast Day with an Expo.  After 11 O'Clock Mass in the Monsignor Bones Hall, next to the Church, there will be all different ministries of the Parish displaying what they do.

Our children will be singing from 12.30 to 1pm.  Please refer to our Catholic Identity pages on this Newsletter for more information.

Our School will have a table there with Enrolment packs and information about our School.  Everyone is most welcome to attend.

Professional Development Days

The first Monday of Term 2, the staff were involved in a Professional Development Day with Andrea Hillbrick.

Our staff focused on Numeracy and ways to engage our students, catering for all abilities and planning some work units.  It was a very informative day and our Professional Development Days are organised around our Strategic Plan and Annual Action Plan.

This Friday, 26th April, we are working in partnership with Adam Voigt from Real Schools for the next three years.

Our goals are to build a strong sustainable and relational culture at St. Brendan's.

  • Enable all at school to thrive.
  • Continue to build a more cohesive and relational learning environment.
  • embed a consistent and pragmatic practice framework for all our educators.
  • Provide practical tools that have an immediate impact on culture.

There will be no school for students this Friday, 26th April as stated in our Calendar on our Newsletters.

We thank parents for your understanding on these pupil free days.  It is part of the Multi Enterprise Agreement that staff have professional development days to keep up with current research etc.

Staff have staff meetings and Professional Learning Team meetings each week after school, but that allows them to discuss data, plan lessons and have mini professional development.

ANZAC Day

Tomorrow, Thursday 25th April is ANZAC Day.  Anzac stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

On April 25th 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli Peninsula.  These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in the name continues to this day.

The meaning of Anzac Day today includes the remembrance of all Australians killed in military operations.

Tomorrow at 11am at the Cenotaph at Welsford Street Shepparton, two of our students will be laying a wreath on behalf of our school.

Georgia Ralston and Fabian Rillstone have been selected to represent our School. Everyone is most welcome to attend.

~The Ode of Remembrance ~

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Kind regards,

Paula Stevenson
