Year 1/2 Report

Term 1, 2024

Well done to all the year 1 and 2 students for a very productive and successful Term 1. 

Literacy

 

This Term in Reading students have been working on building their reading stamina as well as practising a variety of strategies in decoding tricky words and developing fluency.  

The students have also been working on their personal reading goals to improve their reading.  In Writing this Term, the students have been learning how to write recounts focusing on the structure and using language features such as past tense and adjectives.

Numeracy

 

This Term in Maths students have been developing their counting fluency. They have been counting, by 2's, 5's and 10's, forwards and backwards at different starting points.

The students have also developed their understanding of place value, measurement using informal units as well as addition.  This Term the students have been working through number talks and fluency games to help build knowledge and fluency of the concepts being taught. 

 

 

 

Inquiry

 

This Term in Inquiry the students have been exploring ways in which we keep ourselves healthy and safe, through physical and mental wellbeing as well as food choices. This will continue to be explored in Term 2.

 

 

Reminder

  • School begins at 8.50am each day
  • School hats to be worn during Term 1
  • Red folders sent home everyday with 'Just Right Books' and 'Oxford Words'.
