Year 6 Community News

Hello Everyone, and Welcome to Term 3!
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second half of the school year—and for our Grade 6 students, their final semester of primary school! We’re so proud of the growth and maturity they’ve shown, and we’re excited to support them as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
Our 5/6 students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm for learning, their strong friendships, and their commitment to living our school values of RESPECT, CARE, KINDNESS & PERSONAL BEST each day.
We also want to extend a warm welcome to any new families joining our community—it's always a joy to have fresh faces in the classroom and playground.
Term 3 promises to be full of exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences. If you haven’t had a chance to visit our classroom yet, we’d love to connect with you!
Here’s to a rewarding and inspiring term ahead!
Curriculum News
English
This term, our 5/6 students will be exploring the theme of Diverse Environments as part of our English core lessons. Through a range of rich texts, research tasks, and creative writing opportunities, students will investigate how different natural and human environments shape the way people live. They’ll build their literacy skills while developing a deeper understanding of the world around them—and we’re looking forward to the thoughtful discussions this topic will inspire!
Maths
This term, our 5/6 students will be focusing on Angles, Measurement, and Location in Maths. Through hands-on activities, real-world applications, and collaborative tasks, they’ll build their problem-solving skills while deepening their understanding of how these concepts apply to everyday life. We’re excited to see their confidence grow as they engage with these essential areas of maths learning!
Wellbeing
Our 4 school values are RESPECT, KINDNESS, CARE and PERSONAL BEST. Our 4 learning dispositions COMMITMENT, CURIOSITY, COURAGE, COLLABORATION.
This term we are focusing on CARE. A great way to support your child’s understanding of care is by modelling caring behaviours at home—such as helping others, showing empathy, and taking responsibility for shared spaces—and pointing out everyday examples where care is shown.
