Year 5 Community News

Hello Everyone, and Welcome to Term 3!

We’re excited to begin another engaging and meaningful term with our wonderful 5/6 students. For our Grade 5 students, we are entering an important phase as they begin to explore and consider student leadership opportunities for 2026. It’s never too early to start thinking about the qualities of a great leader, and we’re looking forward to supporting them as they grow with their confidence and student voice.

Across the board, our students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to our school values of RESPECT, CARE, KINDNESS & PERSONAL BEST.

We also extend a warm welcome to the new families who have joined us this term—it’s always a pleasure to grow our classroom community.

We can’t wait for all the learning, growth, and memorable moments Term 3 will bring!

Curriculum News

English

This term, our 5/6 students will be exploring the theme of Diverse Environments as part of our English core lessons. Through a range of rich texts, research tasks, and creative writing opportunities, students will investigate how different natural and human environments shape the way people live. They’ll build their literacy skills while developing a deeper understanding of the world around them—and we’re looking forward to the thoughtful discussions this topic will inspire!

Maths

This term, our 5/6 students will be focusing on Angles, Measurement, and Location in Maths. Through hands-on activities, real-world applications, and collaborative tasks, they’ll build their problem-solving skills while deepening their understanding of how these concepts apply to everyday life. We’re excited to see their confidence grow as they engage with these essential areas of learning!

Wellbeing

Our 4 school values are RESPECT, KINDNESS, CARE and PERSONAL BEST. Our 4 learning dispositions COMMITMENT, CURIOSITY, COURAGE, COLLABORATION.

This term we are focusing on CARE. A great way to support your child’s understanding of care is by modelling caring behaviours at home—such as helping others, showing empathy, and taking responsibility for shared spaces—and pointing out everyday examples where care is shown.
