What's Happening At Milgate!
To provide a dynamic, inclusive learning environment that challenges students to become inquirers, thinkers and caring young people who are able to interact in the global society with respect and intercultural understanding
Milgate Primary School would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of the Wurundjeri People and we would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present. Staff, students and the school community understand that we thrive, learn and live on Wurundjeri Country and we stand with all cultures united as one.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful first term. It has been great to have so many community events and to see the students learning so much and taking action. We hope those who celebrate have a very happy Easter and we look forward to seeing everyone back for the first day of Term 2 on Tuesday 22nd April.
It was great to see so many different hats at the Easter/Fancy Hat Parade this year. We had lots of students create their own hats from recycled materials, hats from their own cultures and also our traditional hats as well. A big thank you to our Parent & Friends committee who organise the fundraiser for this fantastic community event.
We’re excited to share that the new Year 3 and 4 playground was open for the students to use this week, and it has been a huge hit! We would like to welcome students in other year levels to use the equipment before and after school, when supervised by their guardians. Special thanks to the parents who assisted with moving mulch on Monday and Tuesday. We are still working towards securing additional funds to complete the installation of the cubby house. Our upcoming school fundraisers (Easter Raffle, Mother’s Day gifts, second hand Uniform Shop funds) will go towards this next phase of the project.
As per our Visitor Policy and for student safety, parents and visitors must sign in at the office if on school grounds between 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM. Visitors must record their details, wear a sticker, follow school policies, and sign out before leaving. We ask that parents remain outside of the classroom, corridors, staffroom and library whilst waiting to pick up their children. Your cooperation is appreciated.
The school has been contacted about parents are parking across driveways of houses near the school. This makes it difficult for any of the neighbours to go in and out of their driveways. We ask that parents be considerate about where they park before and after school.
A reminder to observe the parking signs around the school when dropping off and picking up students.
At various times the parking inspectors from the council come to the school and if parents are parked illegally, they will be issued with parking tickets.
Most parents drive and park safely around the school. We want to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
We have been notified that there will be asphalt laying work on Landscape Drive from Monday 7th - Friday 11th April. This can impact our Holiday Program and drop-off and pick-up for parents. We encourage you to use the Serpells Road entrance at the back of the school during these works.
The School Council plays a vital role in shaping the direction of our school, supporting school leadership, and ensuring our school continues to provide the best possible learning environment for all students. The Council works in partnership with the Principal to set policies, approve budgets, and contribute to long-term planning and improvement.
We’re pleased to introduce our 2025 School Council members:

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS IS A GREAT TIME TO CLEAN OUT THE CUPBOARDS!
The Junior School Council is holding a Stationery Drive to assist Stationery Aid and support children who need assistance with school supplies. Stationery Aid is a not-for-profit organisation, that helps to create opportunities for disadvantaged school students and their families by donating environmentally sustainable educational resources.
They minimise our environmental impact by reusing and recycling stationery that would otherwise go to landfill. Stationery Aid aims to achieve a circular economy by continuing to renew, reuse and recycle where possible.
They collect, sort, clean, renew and donate excess and used education resources by creating booklist and stationery boxes for disadvantaged students.
The Junior School Council would appreciate it if you could donate any excess stationery you have to their Stationery Drive. Please DO NOT purchase any stationery, as the aim is for excess stationery that you may have at home to be recycled and reused.
Each classroom will have a collection tub for your donations - thank you!
We are aware of an issue where parents are now unable to pay for Compass events using the Pay by CSEF/Credit option. Please be aware that we have logged this with Compass, and we are waiting for an update from them.
