Harmony Day is celebrated on the 21st of March each year to embrace Australia’s cultural diversity and heritage. At Marian College, we are proud to promote inclusivity, respect, and an overall sense of belonging for all students, regardless of their cultural background. One way we are celebrating today is by inviting students to dress up to represent their culture, showcasing the rich diversity within our school community.
As you look around, you’ll also notice our school is filled with orange ribbons and accessories. Orange is the color of Harmony Day, symbolising meaningful conversations, social communication, and mutual understanding. But today is about more than just what we wear—it’s about coming together, recognising the value of different cultures, and standing united as one community.
In addition to celebrating cultural diversity, we are also taking this opportunity to give back. All donations and money raised today will go towards Project Compassion and Wellsprings for Women, with a shared goal of raising $1,000. These organizations support vulnerable communities, and through our collective efforts, we hope to make a real difference.
This has been a long-awaited day for all students, and through events like this, the Social Justice Team strives to create a school environment where every culture is valued, every voice is heard, and every student feels a true sense of belonging. Diversity is not just something we acknowledge—it is something we embrace, learn from, and celebrate.
We would like to take this moment to thank all those who have volunteered their time and effort in planning today. So many students and teachers have played a role in making this possible, and we truly appreciate their hard work.
In particular, Harmony Day would not have been possible without the approval and encouragement of Ms. Romano. While the vision and planning came from many hands, none of it could have come to life without her support. So, from all of us—thank you, Ms. Romano! We appreciate your trust, your openness, and your willingness to let us create something meaningful for our school community.
Let’s all take this day as a reminder that inclusivity and respect should not just be celebrated today but carried forward every day in how we treat one another. Together, we can continue to make our school a place where everyone feels welcome.
Thank you!
