Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Academy of Sport - Andrew Sloane
As a graduate of the University of Ballarat's Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and Bachelor of Management (Marketing/Management), Andrew has accumulated over a decade of experience in the sport and recreation industry. He is passionate about the development of young athletes and continues to volunteer his time through community sport.
Andrew’s presentation was so informative and engaging that many stayed later to discuss pathways in the sporting industry personally. Making close connections is an important part of future success, and our boarders can be proud that they can converse with industry professionals.
The Lucindale Field Days are always a highlight of the year. Visiting the beautiful South East South Australian countryside is a treat, and I don’t think I could be in a better place during the autumn season. Meeting up with local families at our annual Katnook Winery drinks on the Thursday evening before the Field Days is a wonderful opportunity to provide an update on College and boarding while also finding out how our Old Collegians and past parents are doing in their respective parts of the world.
This theme continues at the Field Days, but on a much deeper level. On Friday, we had many Old Collegians reminiscing about their time in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 2000s. It is special to hear about the passion our alumni have for their time at the College, particularly their time boarding, which was located at Alexandra House (opposite Melville Oval) and the upstairs section of the senior school administration building. Millie Austin, Class of 2020, visited and updated us on her career in Agriculture, specifically the wool industry. It was interesting for us to hear her passion for the industry and the international travel she will be doing as part of her role in supplying first-class wool to industry leaders in Italy.
Thank you to all our current families and Old Collegians for your ongoing support and community connection.
I also thank our College ambassadors, Lottie Hann, Georgia Williams, and Charlotte Ballantyne. These wonderful students wore their uniforms with pride and spoke with respect and pride to prospective families. The timing could not have been better for Lottie. Arriving home on Thursday evening, she went to check on her Heffer, Uptownfunk, and discovered a newly born calf.
The Naracoorte bus will run on the Monday afternoon, NOT Sunday, 30th of March.
