Secondary School

As Term 1 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the many achievements and blessings we have experienced in the Secondary School this term. It has been a joy to witness the energy, curiosity, and growth of each of our students as they have embraced their learning journeys, looked to actively support one another, and have exemplified the values of our College community.

In previous editions of The Vine this term we have recounted many exciting moments – from academic milestones to sporting events, musical ensembles, camps and excursions and countless extracurricular activities. We have seen our students thrive in the classroom, on the sports field, and in their creative endeavours. The sense of community within the Middle and Senior School that has developed throughout the last ten weeks is a testament to the dedication and commitment of both our students and the wider Oxley community. Together, we have fostered an environment where everyone feels encouraged to excel and grow in their unique gifts.

Chapel Easter Service

As we look forward to the Term 1 holidays, we also prepare for the upcoming Easter season when we are reminded of the ultimate message of hope and renewal. Easter is the time when we pause to reflect and give thanks for the great gift that was bestowed upon each of us. Just as Jesus’ journey to the cross was one of sacrifice and love, so too are we each called to walk alongside one another with compassion and selflessness. As we give thanks, Easter is a time to reflect on the incredible grace that has been given to us and to carry forward this grace in all that we do, both within and beyond our College.

Staff and students were treated to a wonderful service that was led by our Middle School and Senior School leaders in an Easter service during Chapel. It was a wonderful expression of faith that allowed all staff and students a moment to reflect on the great sacrifice made by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Looking ahead to Term 2, I encourage all students to continue setting goals, seeking out new challenges, and supporting one another in the spirit of fellowship and faith. Together, we can build on the strong foundation we have created this term and make the rest of the school year even more remarkable.

May this Easter holiday be a time of peace and joy for you and your families. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and trust in our shared mission to guide and nurture the next generation. Wishing you a restful and blessed break.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24

Ensuring Road Safety for Our Students

It has come to our attention through a concerned member of the public that some of our Middle School and Senior School students are not paying attention and are looking at their phones whilst crossing the road at the corner of Billanook Way and Kimberley Drive on their way to and from Chirnside Shopping Centre before and after school. To address this, we will be posting a message to all students via SEQTA, reminding them to be aware of their surroundings and to put their phones away when crossing roads. Additionally, we will make an announcement during the next Secondary assembly to reinforce this important safety message.

We kindly ask that you also discuss this matter with your children to ensure they understand the importance of road safety and the need to put their phones away when walking to and from school. Teachers are posted on duty on the outskirts of the College property before and after school, but it is imperative that students remain situationally away when they are walking to and from school.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our students safe.
