Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Parent Teacher Interviews over the past week. We have enjoyed getting to know you and your family and better understanding the things your children like to do outside of school.

Hats

We have only one more week of wearing hats to school, as they are not required in Terms 2 and 3.  Unfortunately we have a growing number of children in search of spare hats as they can't find theirs.

If your child is missing their hat, you may need to purchase one (or two) from PSW for the remaining week in term 1 and ready for wearing hats again in Term 4.  Please name them clearly.

Names in Clothing Items

Clothing items frequently go missing and it is always much easier to return them to their owners when there is a clear name label. Please label all of your child's clothing and containers to make it easier for your child to bring them home again.

There are many online companies who print iron on name labels which would help to make the jacket, jumper or hat more easily identifiable for your child. This becomes much more important during our swimming week next term. We have included some links to these companies if you are interested:

Swimming Preparation

Information will be sent to you next term in preparation for our Swimming Program, which we are very excited about. We have found this program to be more successful when:

  • children can independently dry and dress themselves after being in the pool
  • they help to pack their swimming bag and know what items they have brought (eg. what colour their towel and goggles are)
  • they can locate all of their belongings and keep them together in their swimming bag
  • all parent volunteers have pre-arranged their Working With Children Card

You can help your child to prepare for the Swimming Program in a few different ways. Both at home and after swimming lessons (if your child already has after school lessons), encourage them to dress themselves independently. Remind them to check where their towel, goggles, socks, shoes and clothing pieces are when packing and unpacking their swimming bag.

Another good way to practise this daily, is to ask your child to pack their school bag.  Keeping track of their blue folder, reader cover and book, hat, lunchbox, library bag and library book gives them a sense of growing independence and ability to be responsible for their own belongings.

Harmony Day

We were very impressed to see the children wearing clothes from their own culture and sharing stories about what they were wearing. We have included some photos from the day.

Colour Run

Thank you to any parents who helped on the day. A great time was had by all!
