Humanities Update

Harmony Day
On Thursday 20th March, Vermont Primary School celebrated Harmony Day together. It was lovely to see the vast array of cultures represented across the school with so many students dressing up. We started with a whole-school assembly that show-cased the fashion and performing arts from a number of different Asian cultures, as well as guest speaker Krushnadevsinh (Kano) Ravalji, Founder of Third Culture Australia and Youth Commissioner of the Victorian Multicultural Commission . The day continued with a variety of activities across the different year levels, from Filipino Jeepney making in Year 5 to thumb print art with the Year 6s and their Foundation buddies to pizza making in Year 2. A big thank you to all the parents who supported their child/ren with their cultural costumes and particularly those parents who assisted with the assembly items and craft activities in the classroom.
Humanities in Term Two
ANZAC Day
On the 25th April, Australia and New Zealand commemorate ANZAC Day. Here at VPS, we will hold a special ANZAC assembly on Thursday 24th April. Students are invited to bring flowers on the day to lay at the base of the flag pole in honour of all who have served in the Armed Forces for our country.
