EASTER WORSHIP SERVICES AT ST PAUL

You are warmly invited to attend the Easter Worship Services at St Paul over the middle weekend of the school holidays.

HOLY WEEK

Holy Week is the last week of the Church Season of Lent, starting on Palm Sunday and leading up to Easter.  Lent is often described as a journey and Holy Week is the culmination, where Jesus coming to earth to save humankind by dying on the cross on Good Friday and resurrecting on Easter Sunday are reflected upon.

There are several significant days in Holy Week:

Maundy Thursday: On this day, Jesus celebrated the Passover feast with the disciples. We know this feast as the Last Supper and this is the night where He was betrayed by Judas and arrested.  During this meal, Jesus acted as a humble servant and washed the feet of his disciples as an act of love.  Some Christian traditions include foot washing in their service as a reminder that we too should be willing to serve others.

Good Friday: Is a solemn day where Christians recall the trial, punishment and death of Jesus.

Holy Saturday: Commemorates Jesus’ body resting in the tomb.

Easter Sunday: arrives at the end of Holy Week and is one of the most significant days in the Christian calendar as it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and his victory over sin and death.  It is because of this victory that everyone who believes in Jesus will one day live with him for eternity in Heaven.

PLAYGROUP @ ST PAUL

This week it was all about Easter as we made Easter baskets at the craft table, did some other fun Easter activities and found the rabbit and eggs hiding amongst the cotton wool in the sensory play space.  We also used our fine motor skills to put the cotton wool into the egg cartons to look like real eggs and then had an easter egg hunt in the church.

Playgroup is now on a break for the school holidays and will return for Term 2 on Tuesday 29 April.

For more information about anything playgroup related, contact Kylie Koelman in the Church Office on 8262 4690 or email at office@stpaul-church.org.au

BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK FOR EASTER SUNDAY

The women were terrified. They bowed down with their faces to the ground. Then the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here! He has risen!”   (Luke 24:5-6a)

PRAYER OF THE WEEK

Risen Lord Jesus, replace our fears with boldness, our doubts with certainty, and our

unbelief with faith.  Amen.

BLESSING OF THE WEEK

(Name) May the resurrection of Jesus give you joy and hope.  Amen.

LUTHERAN MEDIA – EASTER RESOURCES

Lutheran Media have been using the media of the day to bring the love of God to people in need of hope for over 80 years. In 2008, Lutheran Media launched Happyland as a resource for children.  Today, Happyland has been revamped with the launch of ‘Hope for kids’ under the Messages of Hope website: www.messagesofhope.org.au/ministries/hope-for-kids

Easter Resource: Just in time for Easter, check out the Easter calendar. Take your children on a journey through Easter from Palm Sunday to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. With reflections, bible readings and activities, this is a great resource for parents and grandparents to discover Easter with their children.
