Foundation Classroom News

Here we are, almost at the end of our first term at school! What a huge 10 weeks it has been. We have learnt so much and have very much become part of the school community.
Inquiry
Our 'Identity Containers' are looking fantastic and the children are adding special things to their box to share in their presentations next week.
Each child will have approximately 5 minutes to talk about their items and share what they feel is special about themselves with the class. Look out for photos in the first news letter next term.
AUSLAN
We have been learning the signs for farm animals this week. The students have enjoyed talking about how our hand shapes give us clues to the animals we are signing.
We have also learned how to sign the numbers 1 - 10, the signs for yes and now and how to clap. We are trying to use our new signs in class as often as we can.
Literacy
Our knowledge of letters and the sounds they make is improving every day! We are now able to use the letters S, A, T, P, I, N, M, D, R, O, G and K to spell words and write our own sentences. We have also been practising our reading skills, focusing on decodable texts. Here are some photos of choral and shared reading experiences the children have in the classroom to develop their reading skills.
Mindfulness
Being such busy bees as we are in Foundation, it is important to take a break during the day to refocus and recharge our minds. This week we tried out some 'Bluey Yoga' and it was fantastic! The students had a chance to stretch, relax and have a good giggle while we were trying to hold our yoga poses for 30 seconds.
