What a big fortnight at TPS!

Mrs Pearce

As the term draws to a close it is a great time to reflect on all the amazing things our school has achieved in the last 10 weeks.  If I listed them all for you this newsletter would become more of a novel so here are just some of the highlights:

  • Our Prep students transitioned into school life so beautifully supported so well by Ms Hendriks and Mrs Harvey.
  • We welcomed Ms Elborough 'back' to our school, she has been a very valuable addition to our teaching staff
  • Grade 2 returned to the Tongala Aged Care to visit the residents and form new friendships.
  • Hands On Learning Program has begun
  • Mrs Pridham has begun her Teacher Excellence Program course through the Victorian Teaching and Leadership Academy
  • We have welcomed Education Improvement Leader Cath Moorhead to work with teachers implementing Victorian Curriculum 2.0
  • Ride 2 School day was a great success with students enjoying the opportunity to ride, scoot and walk to school
  • A vegetable garden has started at the Tongala Senior Citizens supported by Bunnings and our 3/4 classes.

Next term is looking just as busy with lots of sport, learning and community opportunities planned for our students.

NAPLAN

At last week's assembly we were able to congratulate our year 3 and 5 students for showing us just how wonderful they are completing this years NAPLAN testing. Teachers commented how the students simply 'got on with the job' and completed the testing with maturity beyond their years.  A big thank you to Mrs Haw who co-ordinated this years NAPLAN and another big thank you to staff who prepare our students so well.  I did hear a rumour that there was a chocolate celebration at the end of the testing!  A great way to acknowledge everyone's achievements.  P.S.  I am still waiting for my Freddo Frog!

5/6 Tennis

Our students represented our school with respect, responsibility and resilience for the annual 5/6 Campaspe Tennis Tournament.  A successful day was had by all that participated, some wins, some loses, some draws and a whole lot of fun!

Rob returns next Thursday to see out the term.   A very big thank you from me for your support over the past 5 weeks.

Have a great weekend everyone!
