Principal's Message
Our children are our future...
We encourage you to read this entire newsletter as lots of effort has been put into its production. Here are the most urgent and important details to read in this edition (not just on this first page):
See Link to Previous Newsletter or the Compass Newsfeed for more in depth information about these 3 topics.
As we arrive at the halfway point of the school year, it’s a great time to pause and reflect.
Think back to the start of the year, where were we then? What were your hopes for 2025? Whether it was building confidence, making new friendships, or trying something new, we all began the year with aspirations. Now is the moment to ask: are we on track to achieve them? How do you know?
If the answer is yes, excellent! Be proud of how far you’ve come. Take a moment to recognise your effort and think about your next challenge. What more can you stretch towards in Term 3?
If you’re not quite there yet, that’s okay too. Progress isn’t always a straight line. What matters now is what you do next. What support do you need? What habits might need adjusting?
This term has been packed with learning and memorable experiences. Highlights include the Mother's Day Marimba performance, exciting excursions to the zoo, the farm and South Melbourne Market, and in-school visits featuring reptiles and science experiments. Year 6 hosted our first Poetry Slam! Some Year 1 students even uncovered dinosaur fossils! We've cheered on teammates at AFL Gala Day and deepened our understanding during NAIDOC Week. Our biggest highlight was the Celebration of Learning. Families joined their children in the classroom to take part in lessons, then came together as a community after school for a fun-filled afternoon with a BBQ, face painting and more. We'll wrap it all up in style with Rockstar Day!
We’re proud of everything our students, staff and families have achieved together. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
As we head into the break, I encourage you to spend as much quality time with your children as you can. If you are travelling, especially to visit family overseas, we wish you safe and joyful journeys.
And finally, Mr Noel returns this Wednesday! He has told me every day how much he has missed SMPS, and I know he is looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.
Wishing you a restful and happy holiday.
