Staffing news

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Chadwick successfully secured the role of relieving Assistant Principal for weeks 10 and 11 of this term through an Expression of Interest process. He has stepped in at short notice to support our K-4 classes while Ms Deacon takes leave to care for her father. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mr Chadwick, and he brings his dedication and positivity to the role, ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for our students and staff during this time. Congratulations Mr Chadwick!

Cross Country Carnival

The annual Cross Country Carnival was a great success, with beautiful sunny weather providing the perfect backdrop for the event. Students participated enthusiastically, and the day was filled with energy and enjoyment.

A highlight of the carnival was Sam the Cheerleading Unicorn, who engaged with runners by giving high fives and cheering them on, adding an extra layer of fun to the event.

What stood out most was the camaraderie among students, as they supported and encouraged one another throughout the day. This sense of care for peers is a true reflection of our strong community spirit.

A special thank you to our coordinator, Mr. Chadwick, for his hard work in organising this event. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making the carnival a memorable occasion!

1/2 Buru - Cooking with Ms Lewis

1/2 Buru had a fantastic time in the kitchen with Ms Lewis, preparing delicious spinach and ricotta triangles as well as strawberry triangles! The highlight of the session was using fresh silver beet straight from our school garden, adding a special touch to our tasty treats. The students not only enjoyed cooking but also learned about the importance of using fresh, local ingredients. Everyone had a blast rolling, filling, and baking their triangles, and they couldn't wait to eat their creations. A big thank you to Ms Lewis for guiding us through this fun and nutritious activity! AFL Program

Over the last four weeks of term, our students have been actively participating in the AFL Sporting in Schools program. This engaging initiative has provided them with the opportunity to learn a variety of essential skills, including how to kick a goal and execute a hand pass in AFL. It's been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and development in these fundamental techniques! Mr Chadwick

Exciting news for our Year 3 to 6 choir!

We are thrilled to announce that our newly formed Year 3 to 6 choir is gearing up to participate in the 2025 Wollongong School's Choral Festival in Term 3! Our dedicated students have been attending rehearsals every Wednesday and their hard work is truly paying off. They have made fantastic progress in learning the selected songs, and they sound wonderful together.

In addition to the Choral Festival, we are proud to share that the Choir has been invited to perform at the Corrimal RSL Subbranch Dawn Service on Anzac Day. This is a significant honour for our school, and we are excited for our students to represent Tarrawanna Public School at this important event.

We look forward to watching our choir grow and shine in the upcoming performances. Thank you for your continued support! Mrs Lo Castro

K- Waruga

Over the past five weeks, the kindergarten classroom has been buzzing with exciting learning adventures! The students have been busy developing early phonic skills by exploring letters and their sounds. In maths, they’ve delved into patterns and connected numbers to our world, discovering how to make and show them in everyday life. We've also focused on understanding emotions and building positive friendships, fostering a supportive classroom environment. In sport, our 'Dry Swimming Carnival' was a highlight, along with learning new AFL skills, encouraging fitness and teamwork. In science, students became mini engineers by using recycled materials to build push-and-pull vehicles and learnt how to code Beebots , sparking creativity and problem-solving. As we conclude the term, we look forward to the upcoming Cross Country event and Hat Parade, where our students can showcase their skills and creativity. We are looking forward to a refreshing break over the holidays, allowing everyone to reset and return ready for an exciting new term ahead. Thank you for your continued support in your child's learning journey! Ms McLachlan
