Semester 2 Reports are currently being finalised. These reports will be sent home on the 11 Dec 2024 via Compass. This report is designed to provide information about your child’s learning and their goals for future success. This report will provide parents with information on how your child is progressing spiritually, academically and socially. It is extremely important to celebrate your child’s achievements in all areas as well as acknowledge and begin to work on their next steps within their learning.

Parents will be able to access their child’s report on Compass via their phone, iPad or computer. All parents are strongly encouraged to download their child’s report and retain this file on their device for future reference.

Student Leadership at StMM’s

Over the last two weeks our Year 5 students have been considering their call to leadership for 2025. While each of the students at St Margaret Mary’s is called to leadership and the service of others, each year our Year 6 students have a particular responsibility to be positive role models for the younger students by demonstrating the ability to “Love the Truth” and our school expectations. As a Catholic community we have a wonderful role model for leadership in Jesus. His life provides an example of how to live and interact within our school community, our families and the wider world. Student leadership therefore needs to be seen as an opportunity for our young people to use their gifts and talents for the service of the community.

At St Margaret Mary’s, student leaders have a major role to play in the day-to-day activities occurring at school. They are the public face of the student body as well as the children and they are charged with the task of improving the school for their classmates and leaving behind a legacy of respect and achievement. Next week twelve of our Year 5 students have been successfully nominated to prepare and deliver captains speeches after which Year four and five students and staff will vote for School Captains and Vice Captains.

During this time, our Pillar Leaders and House Colour Captains for 2025 will also be finalised. I ask that you keep the students in your prayers as they reflect on their own and others leadership capacities and capabilities.

2025 Class Groups

The staff will be spending time over the coming weeks preparing the children to transition to their new learning spaces for 2025. The teachers will be creating the class groups for 2025. Our teachers know each and every child, their strengths and goals, who they work best with and the learning environment they need to continue to succeed at school.

On the "Moving on Day” Tuesday 17 December 2024, the students will be meeting their teacher for 2025. During this time, students will spend time with their 2025 teacher and their peers in their new learning environment. We know that this is an exciting time!

Punctuality

Being on time for school may seem like a small detail, but it has a big impact on our daily lives and overall success. Here are a few key reasons why punctuality matters:

Setting a Positive Tone for the Day

Arriving on time allows students to start their day calmly and prepared. Rushing in at the last minute can lead to a stressful start, making it harder to focus and engage in lessons. Arriving a few minutes before the bell allows students time to greet their friends, visit the bathroom and hear the assembly messages before commencing the morning learning block.

Maximising Learning Opportunities

Every minute counts in the classroom! When students arrive on time, they don’t miss important announcements or the initial part of the lesson. This ensures they are fully engaged and can participate in discussions right from the start.

Developing Responsibility and Time Management Skills

Punctuality is a valuable life skill and sets the foundation for future success. Being on time teaches responsibility and the importance of managing one’s schedule, which is essential not just in school, but also in future jobs and personal commitments.

Tips for Being On Time:

Prepare the Night Before:

  • Pack your schoolbag and lay out your clothes to save time in the morning.
  • Set Alarms: Use alarms to remind you when it’s time to start getting ready and leave.
  • Plan Ahead: Leave a little earlier than you think you need to account for unexpected delays.

Let’s all commit to making punctuality a priority! Being on time not only benefits us individually but also enhances the entire school community. Together, we can create an environment where everyone is ready to learn and succeed.

God Bless
