On Thursday, some of the Grade 2's were lucky enough to participate in an Interschool Maths competition run by Mr Adrian Hanson, Assistant Principal of Roxburgh Park Primary School. The students were allocated into groups of 3 or 4 to answer questions on Maths concepts like shapes, money, counting, division and more. They had to work together to listen to the question, work it out for themselves and then decide as a group what the right answer would be. They all worked so well together in their groups! Here's what some of the students had to say about the competition;
Messina - 2A: 'It was a bit hard but Max and Adnan helped me!'
Max - 2B: 'I think the first 3 questions were easy and then the middle questions were medium and the last questions were harder.'
Rosie - 2C: 'I thought it was hard but Nathan, Jack and Musa helped me. And I thought we would lose but I don't think that anymore because I went down the hill then up the hill in the learning pit.'
Felix - 2C: 'It was fun, a bit challenging but I know that lots of us had a lot of fun.'
We had some fantastic results, with all of our groups getting 9, 10 or 11 out of 11! Well done to all of the students who participated!
For the second part of this term we have been writing persuasive pieces. We have looked at how to make our writing persuasive by using modal verbs and interesting evidence. We learned the structure of a persuasive piece and how paragraphs are important in organising our ideas. Check out a few examples of student work below;
We have been working hard on finishing the publishing of our Butterfly projects. We have enjoyed learning about Butterflies this term. Have a look at our completed published work below;
Wellbeing
We have been reflecting on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness this week in wellbeing. Throughout the year we have been learning about these concepts through the 'Resilience Project'. To reflect on these learnings we have created posters and videos to show our knowledge of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Have a look at our completed work below;
