Mr Derek Lennon
After a big year of sport at Marist we are not finished yet. In the coming weeks, we have our cricket team heading to Sydney to take part in the national Marist Cricket Carnival at St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill. Good luck to the team at this prestigious event. This year is the 50th Carnival, we have a long and proud history in this event, Ashgrove being one of the foundation schools and the host in 2025. Thank you to Mr Andrew Catton, Mr Michael Abbott and Mr Tom Gibson for overseeing this Carnival and for leading the boys throughout the week.
We also have our Junior and Intermediate teams competing in the National Schools Challenge here in Brisbane in December. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work from these athletes and their coaches and we wish them well at this significant event in athletics. Thank you to Head Coach, Mr Rob Martin and Director of Track and Field Mr Richard Graham, and the entire Marist coaching team for supporting these boys. Good luck!
We also have our volleyball team participating in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast. This is the pinnacle event in the volleyball calendar and also a great week’s preparation for the AIC volleyball season in Term 1. The team have been going through their paces in preparation and are sure to give a good account of themselves in a very high-quality event. Thank you to Mr Patrick Denkes and Mr Adam Green for preparing the team and managing the group throughout the week.
Best wishes to the Marist community for a safe, relaxing and enjoyable Christmas and New Year.

While we understand that many families travel during this time, it’s important for swimmers to recognise that the holiday period is a crucial time to prepare for the AIC season. To maximise this preparation, gym sessions will be added after each swim training session.
