Miss Katie Smith

Year 3&4

In a hands-on science project, Year 3 and 4 students applied their understanding of heat including conductors and insulators by designing and creating their own insulated lunch boxes. Using a variety of materials such as cardboard, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, cotton balls, foil, and paper the students created some fantastic designs.

Year 5&6

Over the last few weeks, Year 5 and 6 students have continued to explore light and its properties. They conducted hands-on experiments like the "broken pencil" experiment to investigate light refraction, gaining a deeper understanding of how light bends when it passes through different materials. Students also explored the characteristics of opaque, transparent, and translucent objects, learning how light interacts with these surfaces. To wrap up the year, they participated in an end-of-year Kahoot quiz, testing their knowledge across a range of topics including biology, physics, chemistry, and earth and space science.
