Principal Message

Dear Families,

I hope you have enjoyed a mid term break and the glorious weather we have had. We are now turning our heads towards the end of the year and hope to see many learners take huge steps in the final weeks of 2024

Colour Run: What a day! It was so good to see many families enjoying watching (and even participating) in the colour run with the students. Our amazing Colour run leaders (Nikita Stanley, Jess Chadwick, Megan King and Megan Lowery) have done another amazing job in planning and organising the event to raise money for new Mathematics resources. We have had some amazing amounts of money raised by individuals and a special mention to Knox in Year 1 who alone, raised nearly $900!!! An amazing effort Knox! Overall we have raised approx $13,500. A phenomenal effort Ocean Grove PS. There is still time to bring back sponsorship money. This Friday, the 8th of November, is the last day!  I know the staff are truly appreciative of the efforts to enhance their teaching resources and in turn, enhance the learning of OGPS students.

Year 1 Day Camp: Our Year 1 students head over to the park for special day camp of fun and activities. Thanks to the parent volunteers helping out too. We can’t do these special things without the helpers! Please ensure your child has a SunSmart hat and drink bottle ready for the day.

State Athletics Championships: Congratulations to Mia-Rose J (6KD), Maeve B-L (5CC), Parker C (5FA), Chloe B (5FA), and Zarah G (6RF) for their outstanding achievements at the State Athletics Championships! Mia-Rose showed incredible speed in both the 100m and 200m sprints, while Maeve impressed us with her high jump skills. Parker, Chloe, Maeve and Zarah displayed fantastic teamwork and determination in the relay event. We are incredibly proud of each of you for representing our school with such talent and spirit —well done!

Remembrance Day: November 11th at 11am is another day to pay respect to those who lost their lives in conflict throughout history. Our Year 6’s are likely to attend the ceremony in the park with their teachers.

Year 6 Graduation: Loads of communication has been distributed to Year 6 families and any questions are being updated weekly via the FAQ’s published. There have been a few tweaks over the past few weeks but the date remains the same - Tuesday 17th December. Please check the comms around Graduation so you are up to date!

Final Assembly: Friday 13th December from 9.30am, we will host our final assembly at the park where we acknowledge our magnificent Year 6’s, thanks families and friends and celebrate some great achievements. Feel free to invite your extended family, bring chairs and a blanket and enjoy another great community celebration.

Bye Megan: Megan King finishes up today to enjoy a brief period of just her and John time before the baby arrives. We wish Megan and John all the very best and look forward to seeing Megan and the new arrival soon.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
