FROM THE PRINCIPAL

YEAR 4 CAMP

Our Year 4 Camp was a G.R.E.A.T success. Our camp team (staff and students) enjoyed some awesome weather and of course the fun and adventurous experiences and opportunities camps provide.

Camps provide our students with a wonderful opportunity to try new things and challenge themselves. It might be having a go on the zipline and facing a fear of heights, working with a group of peers to complete a range of initiative activities like hut building involving leadership and teamwork or even simply being able to meet new friends or broaden a friendship group.

These opportunities are only organised thanks to the dedication and commitment of our staff. Many thanks to Tracey Watts for her organisation of the camp and thank you to the staff who attended: David Symeonidis, Samantha Marmo, Steph O’ Donnell, Brad Ryan, Jordan Daley, Lynsey Barrett, Joshua Hick and our parents Paige Macdonald and Marnie Hay.

CULTURAL INFUSION

Today was a wonderful celebration of cultural diversity. Seeing all of our students dress up in colours and costumes that represent their cultural heritage was a real highlight. I was able to dress up in my Papua New Guinea flag shirt (which is where I was born) and also celebrate my heritage having grandparents born in Australia, England and France.

Events like this are a G.R.E.A.T. way to develop a deeper understanding and respect across our school and our broader community. As you can see by our Parent / Carer Survey Data, we are making significant improvement around respecting and valuing our families beliefs and wishes. Interesting to see that our communication of the importance of respecting all cultural beliefs has been high for the last 3 years. Our challenge now is to build on this further so that we live up to our vision of being connected, curious and challenged.
