LAP IT UP Fundraiser for Mental Health

Congratulations to Jasmine Elliott, Kendra Blacket, and Sahara Sutcliffe!

These students recently participated in the Baw Baw Shire's Live 4 Life Lap It Up Fundraiser, raising an incredible $1,405 for Mental Health Month. Their team, The Floating Goomies, completed an astonishing 1,335 laps between them at the Warragul Leisure Centre on 28 October.

Well done, Goomies! Your dedication and effort inspire us all to support such an important cause.

Mental Health Month: Let’s Talk About It

This year’s Mental Health Month theme, “Let’s Talk About It,” emphasises the importance of open dialogue and communication about mental health in diverse and inclusive ways.

The theme's focus on "Talk" encourages using various platforms to share ideas, lived experiences, and coping strategies. It also highlights the significance of listening and creating safe spaces for meaningful conversations. The open-ended "It" invites individuals to explore topics that matter most to them, whether it's navigating mental health systems, seeking support, or advocating for greater accessibility.

By embracing these conversations, we empower individuals to share stories, advocate for change, and provide understanding and support. Let’s continue to foster an environment where everyone feels heard and supported.

Positive Behaviour Shines in the Community

Recently, a community member stopped a staff member at Coles to share an uplifting message about our students. As a crossing safety officer who worked a relief shift near Marist, she was delighted by the courteous and friendly behaviour of all students crossing that day. Many greeted her warmly, thanked her for her work, and made her day with their politeness.

Notably, she praised the students' clean and smart uniforms and shared that their manners exceeded her expectations compared to other schools she has observed.

This week, I shared this feedback with our students, reminding them that when they wear the Marist-Sion uniform, they represent not only themselves but also the broader Marist-Sion College community, including generations of former staff and students.

The message also highlighted the importance of our classroom routines, such as teachers and students greeting each other at the door to foster mutual respect.

Well done, Team MSCW! Let’s continue to represent our school with pride and kindness.
