Student Learning Culture and Growth

As we enter the final three weeks of the semester, excitement and engagement are at their peak at Marist-Sion College. This is a time for students to celebrate their hard work and showcase their talents, whilst we come together as a community to acknowledge the achievements of our students.
However, we must stay focused on learning, and complete each task diligently. With meaningful challenges ahead, including upcoming exams and important events such as he Marist-Sion College Presentation Night — “An Evening of Excellence"— we encourage every student to continue striving to fulfill their potential and make the most of this valuable time.
As exams and final assessments approach, its crucial to continually seek guidance and support to stay on track. Whether the need is to clarify concepts with teachers, collaborate with peers, or make use of available resources, proactive effort ensures you’re well-prepared. By taking advantage of support options, students will be better prepared to approach their assessments with greater clarity and focus.
One of the highlights of the past weeks was the Junior Showcase Evening, where students involved in LEAP Passion Projects demonstrated their creativity and commitment to advancing their learning. These projects allow students to explore their personal interests and cover a wide range of fields and topics. The showcase featured hands-on displays and engaging presentations, showcasing each student’s inspiration and unique perspective. Additionally, the Performing Arts students took to the stage, with some instrumentalists performing publicly for the first time. Their courage and dedication left a significant impact on the audience, making it a memorable night and reminding us of the growth that can be achieved from undertaking new challenges.
Our Marist-Sion College Presentation Night, "An Evening of Excellence," will take place at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Thursday, November 28th. This event provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students, who have made the College, their families, guardians, and teachers proud. Information has been sent via email to both students and their parents or guardians regarding this special occasion.
As exams and final assessments draw near, we wish all students the very best in their preparation. Stay focused, manage your time effectively, and remember to take care of your well-being throughout this period. Your hard work and dedication will support you to succeed —believe in your abilities and approach each challenge with confidence.
New Commencement Program
Thursday 28 November through to Friday 6 December
The College will be commencing our New Commencement Program which begins on Thursday, November 28, concluding on Friday, December 6. Previously known as Head Start, this program is designed to support a smooth transition as students commence their next phase of learning in their new year level and prepare for their studies to continue in 2025.
Current Year 7 to 9: Students will remain in their current 2024 classes and year levels and will commence working on content for 2025. Elective classes will continue as usual, allowing students to complete either their current projects or begin new topics that will best prepare the students for next year’s learning.
Year 10 and 11: Senior students will begin their Year 11 and Year 12 classes, starting on their VCE or VCE VM subjects with their teachers for 2025 (where possible).
We look forward to commencing this exciting new program, as we prepare to enter the next phase of each student’s learning pathway.
