Professional Practice Day

Now that staff have completed their Professional Practice time, the overall sentiment is one of accomplishment, despite it being mentally demanding. Monday provided an invaluable opportunity to address a number of administrative tasks that can get deprioritised. Teachers were highly productive, dedicating time to document their curriculum, assess work, plan for future lessons, and collaborate with colleagues.

Similarly, our Education Support staff were equally engaged, benefiting from a day with fewer interruptions than when students are present.

Someone remarked that they had not fully appreciated the scope of teachers' work until witnessing firsthand the significant amount of progress made during this focused time. This highlights the impressive level of productivity and dedication demonstrated by all staff.

NAIDOC Celebrations

NAIDOC Week was celebrated in early July, while the school was on a break for the school holidays. This opened up a fantastic opportunity to schedule a celebration at another time. Thanks to Dyllen (student) and staff member, Sarah Laidlaw for organising a NAIDOC themed day this week. A big thanks also to the teachers that stepped in to run the various workshops with students. With the expertise of our Koorie Engagement Support Officer (KESO), Tammy Campbell, students in Years 7 – 10 participated in a range of Indigenous based activities with their peers. A lot of fun was had by all, as well as much learning, including a deeper appreciation for our Koorie culture.

Health Reminders

It’s that time of year when allergies run wild, so please make sure your child is prepared for school with their appropriate medications. Carrying asthma puffers and having anti-histamines is vital to ensure symptoms remain at bay.

COVID and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) are starting to be a concern in local areas. Please ensure vaccinations are up to date and that if your child is sick, that they stay at home.
