Principal's Message
I can not believe that we have entered the back half of Term 3, which has been action packed and fun-filled from the very start. Our school community has embraced many exciting opportunities together, making this term one to remember.
We have recently seen an increase in illnesses within our community, and it is important to help protect everyone's health and wellbeing. If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home and seek medical advice as needed. Staying home when sick helps prevent the spread of infection and ensures that our school remains a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Recently, our Stage 2 students enjoyed a fantastic Wetlands Science Day hosted by Mulwaree High School. This hands-on learning experience connected them deeply with our local environment.
Kindergarten celebrated an important milestone with their 100 Days of Learning, marking their tremendous growth so far this year.
Welcome to our new families who have joined us this year, it is exciting that we continue to grow each term.
During Week 3, we proudly celebrated Public Education Week with a range of wonderful activities. Our staff, students, and families came together for a community BBQ, enjoyed a vibrant NAIDOC Week Artwork exhibition, and participated in a highly spirited teachers and parents vs students soccer match. The game was thrilling, reminiscent of World Cup soccer, with parents and teachers securing a 3–0 victory. We look forward to the rematch later this year!
Congratulations to our school dance group for their magical performance of ABRACADABRA at the annual Goulburn Community of Public Schools Music Festival on Wednesday 5 August.
The students showcased the outstanding talents of our school, and we sincerely thank Miss Morris for her expert choreography and commitment in supporting every dancer.
Our GCOPS Choir also shone brightly, joining with other schools across Goulburn for a combined choir performance. I commend all involved students for their dedication and exemplary behaviour throughout rehearsals and the concert. Special congratulations to Piper for her amazing solo vocal performance! A warm thanks to Mr Waterman for leading this wonderful program at our school, Miss Wong for her support during the GCOPS concert series, as well as Miss Wiggins and Mrs Freebody for their supervision assistance in the evening.
As I reflect on Public Education Week, I feel honoured to lead this amazing school and extend my heartfelt appreciation to our hardworking and dedicated administration, teaching, non-teaching, and leadership teams. Together, they make Goulburn Public School a great place to learn and grow every single day.
Congratulations to the 40 students who participated in the Goulburn Crookwell PSSA District Athletics Carnival at Hudson Park on Friday 7 August .
We are proud of their efforts in track and field events and thank Mrs Laverty for her collaborative work with Goulburn North in hosting the carnival. Our gratitude also goes to Mrs Latham, Ms Baragry, and Mrs Tozer for their hard work preparing the canteen for this event.
I would also like to sincerely thank our P&C for their generous funding of our new BBQ and three school marquees, which were proudly on display during our Education Week BBQ. These resources will provide much-needed shelter and convenience for students at school and district events.
We are looking forward to many exciting events in the second half of the term.
Last week, we welcomed Healthy Harold Life Education, a big thank you to our P&C for funding the annual Healthy Harold visit. Photos of the Healthy Harold sessions will be included in our next newsletter.
Our annual Book Week Parade is just around the corner, promising creativity and fun!
There will also be an Oz Tag clinic, giving students a chance to learn new skills and have fun playing sport.
Our P&C Father's Day breakfast and stall are coming up too, where families can enjoy breakfast together and buy gifts.
We encourage everyone to participate and make these events memorable for all.
