Education in Faith

Easter Sunday ~ Year A

Gallery Image

This week we will be celebrating Easter. As we celebrate this most important day in our Liturgical calendar, we are reminded of the powerful message at the heart of our faith: life, hope, and love triumph over all. The Gospel tells us of the empty tomb ~  Mary Magdalene arriving in the quiet of dawn, only to discover that Jesus is no longer there.

What first seemed like confusion and loss quickly became the beginning of deep hope. The Resurrection was not immediately understood, but it was encountered ~ in wonder, in faith, and in love.

Easter invites us, as a school community, to live as people of the Resurrection. Just as the disciples moved from fear to belief, we too are called to recognise the signs of new life around us ~ in acts of kindness in the playground, in perseverance in learning, in forgiveness and fresh starts.

In the first reading, we hear that Jesus “went about doing good,” and this is the same mission entrusted to us. Easter is not just a moment we celebrate ~ it is a way of living each day with hope, compassion, and courage. In the Psalm, we joyfully proclaim, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” This joy is something we carry into our homes, our spaces, and our wider community.

As Term 1 comes to a close, Easter also offers a gentle invitation to rest, renew, and reconnect during the holidays. It is a time to notice the simple blessings in our lives and to return refreshed for the term ahead.

We wish all our families a happy and holy Easter, filled with peace, joy, and the hope that comes from knowing that new life is always possible. May your holiday break be safe, restful, and filled with special moments together.

Discussion Starters

  • What does “new life” mean to you, and where do you see it in your life right now?

  • How can we bring hope and kindness to others, just as Jesus did?

  • Why do you think the disciples found it hard to understand what had happened at first?

  • What is one way our family can live out the message of Easter during the holidays?

THANK YOU

This Lent, our school community was a part of something truly extraordinary.

As part of Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, we united with schools and parishes across the country in solidarity with vulnerable communities all over the world, paving the way to a brighter, more just future for all.

Our whole school community stepped up and answered the call, and we are truly grateful to all of you for your incredible support. We harnessed the collective kindness and generosity of our students, parents, teachers and wider community and turned it into real, lasting change for those who need it most. Together, we became a powerful force for good, achieving so much more together than we ever could alone.

THANK YOU for standing with us and choosing to Unite Against Poverty this Lent!
