Term 2, Week 1
Welcome back to Term 2, I hope all our families had a joyful and restful Easter break. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school with such big smiles, positive energy, and enthusiasm for another term of learning and fun.

We concluded Term 1 with our Easter Pilgrimage walk through the school. Our Social Justice Leaders did an outstanding job reenacting the Easter story, helping to bring this important time in our faith to life. Our students are to be commended for the reverence they demonstrated as they thoughtfully moved through each of the stations. It was also lovely to see so many parents and family members attend our pilgrimage.

I am pleased to share that the Principalship of Our Lady's is now advertised. This is an important step in the process of appointing our new school leader. Parents and carers are invited to attend a meeting with Casey Janides, Senior Manager School Leadership from Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS), on Tuesday 28th April at 2:50-3.10pm. This meeting is a valuable opportunity for our school community to provide input into the selection process. Casey will be seeking your feedback on the qualities, skills, and attributes you would like to see in our next principal, as well as the values and priorities that are most important to you and to your school. Your voice is an important part of this process, and I encourage families to attend and contribute.

On Thursday we held our Annual Athletics Day, which was a great success. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and the day was filled with energy, encouragement, and great sportsmanship from all students. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and demonstrating our school values both on and off the field.

Congratulations to our 2026 winners: It was very close this year

This year, we unfortunately will not be able to host our traditional Mother’s Day Breakfast, due to our building program, the gym is currently out of use, which has impacted our ability to hold this event. However, we are very much looking forward to welcoming our mums in a different and equally special way. We invite mothers and special guests to visit their child’s classroom from 8:00–8:30am, where students will have something thoughtful and meaningful planned to celebrate and acknowledge their mums or special mother figures in their lives.
The dates for these classroom visits are:
A Google form has been sent via COMPASS. If you are attending please complete the form NO LATER than Friday 1st May. For those attending the Mother’s Day activity, we kindly invite a small cash donation, with all proceeds supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations will be collected on the morning of your child’s scheduled activity.

Today at our assembly we remembered and honored the brave men and women who served our country. ANZAC Day holds great significance in Australian and New Zealand history, commemorating the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. Our School Captains and Mr Iacopino will attend the ANZAC day service on Saturday morning at ANZAC Park.

We kindly ask families to avoid picking up students during break times where possible. Our break times are recess at (11:00–11:30am) and lunch (1:40–2:20pm). Collecting students during these times can be disruptive, both for your child and for staff supervising across the school. During break times, it can also be difficult for students to hear announcements across the yard, which can delay pick-up and cause unnecessary confusion. In addition, students are often away from their classrooms, making it challenging for them to collect their school bags and belongings. We understand that early collection is sometimes necessary due to appointments and we appreciate your support in organising pick up either before or after break times.

If you have a child intending to commence Prep next year, enrolment forms are now available on our website. Please finalise your enrolment in order to secure your child a place. https://www.olps.vic.edu.au/prep/
