PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Term 2 has started with a busy and positive atmosphere around the school.

It was wonderful to see so many families take the time to meet with their child’s teacher last week during parent-teacher interviews. These conversations play a vital role in your child’s education, helping to strengthen the partnership between home and school and supporting your child’s learning and wellbeing.

Regular attendance remains a key focus this year, as consistent attendance is critical to your child’s academic success and social development. If your child is absent from school for any reason, please ensure you communicate the reason for their absence to the school promptly. This not only helps us keep accurate records but also allows us to provide the necessary support for your child’s learning. Should you have any concerns about attendance, please contact the school so we can work together towards a positive solution.

Traffic safety during pick-up and drop-off times continues to be a priority to ensure the well-being of all students. Our kiss and ride zone is designed to help traffic flow smoothly and keep everyone safe. Please remember to:

  • Adhere to the Kiss and Drop rules. You are permitted to stop for no more than 2 minutes and be no more than 3 metres from your vehicle.
  • Use the pedestrian crossing EVERY TIME you cross the road. Set a safe example for your children. Be alert to pedestrians, always giving way to children and families crossing the road.

Following these guidelines helps us maintain a safe environment for our children in these busy times of the day.

At the start of Term 2, we transition to our winter uniform. I have been reminding students about what constitutes the correct winter uniform to ensure consistency across the school. Boys may wear either grey shorts or grey long pants, paired with either the short or long-sleeved polo shirt. Girls have several options: culottes or skorts with the polo, green long pants with a short or long-sleeved polo, or the winter tunic with the lemon shirt and stockings or white socks. Please note, the winter uniform does not include the summer dress worn with stockings. It is important that children do not wear a mix of everyday uniform and sports uniform. I ask for your support in making sure your child wears the correct uniform every day. If you require any assistance with uniforms, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Our annual Muffins with Mum Mother’s Day event is approaching soon. To help us prepare adequate catering, please remember to RSVP if you plan to attend. We look forward to sharing this special celebration with our GVPS mums and grandmothers.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Mrs Sassine all the very best as she has commenced her maternity leave, eagerly anticipating the arrival of her baby. We send her our warmest wishes for this exciting time.

There are many events and activities planned throughout Term 2, so please stay connected by regularly checking the Sentral Parent Portal and our social media accounts for the latest updates and information.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to work together to create the best learning environment for our students.
