Performing Arts

In Performing Arts this fortnight, students have been learning about what they will be exploring in Performing Arts this year. We also spent time discussing expectations in the learning space and how we can work together to create a positive, safe, and respectful environment.

To make learning fun and engaging, students played a game of charades in small groups, acting out a favourite activity they enjoyed during the holidays and sharing it with their peers. This supported confidence, creativity, and collaboration.

This year, students from Prep to Year 6 are invited to join our school choir, which will run during lunchtime on Tuesdays. I strongly encourage all students who are interested to come along and give it a try. Numbers won’t be locked in until later in the term, so everyone is welcome to come and see if choir is for them!

Physical Education

Over the first two weeks of PE, students across all year levels have been learning to move their bodies in different ways and play games with safety, kindness, and respect. We have focused on stopping and listening when we hear a signal, moving safely using actions such as running, hopping and jumping, and showing kindness and respect by taking turns and helping our teammates.

Prep to Year 2

Students enjoyed learning PE routines through games, such as "Fruit Salad", practised throwing and catching bean bags with a partner, and took part in Stop and Start games, where they moved around the space like animals and stopped when they heard the whistle.

Year 3 to 6

Students participated in a range of partner and team games including "Boom, Clap and Snatch", focusing on safe movement, teamwork, fair play, and responding quickly to instructions and signals.

STEAM

Welcome back to all our families for the start of the 2026 school year. We extend a very special welcome to our Prep students and their families as they begin their STEAM learning journey with us.

Students across the school have made a fantastic start to STEAM this year.

  • Prep students explored what scientists and artists do, using their senses to observe objects and create simple, detailed drawings.

  • Years 1 - 2 learned about the role of scientists, developed observation skills, and created self-portraits as scientists in their STEAM journals.

  • Years 3 - 4 explored what scientists do, practised careful observing, and created artworks inspired by natural objects using lines and shapes.

  • Years 5 - 6 investigated different types of animation and the science of persistence of vision, creating flipbooks and practising simple storytelling sequences.

It has been a wonderful start to the year, with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning evident across all year levels.
