YEAR 3B - PLANETS
Year 3B students proudly painted their own planets to celebrate the end of our Earth and Space Science unit! The activity allowed students to express their creativity while showing what they’ve learned about the features of planets, their unique characteristics, and our place in the solar system.
Throughout this unit, we explored the Earth and Space Science focus areas. Students investigated:
- The Sun, Earth and Moon as a system — understanding how Earth’s rotation causes day and night.
- The observable features of the sky — identifying the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars, and recognising how they appear to move over time.
- Changes in our environment — discussing shadows, light, and how natural patterns help us make predictions.
- How our planet is one of many in the solar system — learning basic features of planets and comparing their sizes, colours, and surfaces.
Painting planets was a fun and engaging way for students to bring together this knowledge and share it visually. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and curiosity as young scientists! If you get the chance, please take a moment to ask your child about their planet and what they discovered during our unit.
EAL END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
Last week our EAL students celebrated the end of a wonderful year with icecreams and Zooper Doopers. This was also a great opportunity to wish our Year 6 students all the best for their high school years.
